Rough run today

Today was one of the worst runs I’ve had in a while. I’m not sure why, but my right leg (calf and quad) muscles were really tight and sore. I was doing 35 minutes at 150 HR which I haven’t been too vigilant with lately. Adria and I train together and I have been slowing down a bit to stay with her more. Anyway, the pace I needed for 150 felt totally unnatural and was actually a bit painful. To stay out of the pain zone, I kept un-intentionally speeding up, only noticing when I looked down and my HR was around 157. I managed to keep it so my average heart rate was 150 but I had to stop and massage my right calf a few times.
On top of that, it actually rained this morning (first time in over a month) so the air was pretty humid. That made for uncomfortable breathing through the whole run. Anyway, I slogged through it and managed to hit 2.89 miles in 35 minutes. Hopefully my twice weekly 150 HR runs won’t continue like this.

Those twice per week runs will get better. The pain however is probably more a function of needing to stretch and recover from the prior workout.
Keep an eye on it. A massage helps - especially on a regular basis. Watch the shoes too. Keep up the good work!
